Mowing:
Du Sum Landscape Services will maintain the turf at a 2-3/4”-3-1/2” height. Each mowing will include the following:
Weed eating all concrete or hard surfaces and around all mulch beds
Weed eating around all trees, retaining walls and play equipment
Mechanical edging 1 time per month where turf meets concrete
Blowing of all grass clippings and debris from mulch beds and hard surfaces
Any debris in the turf that cannot be mulched by mower will be removed by Du Sum Landscape Services prior to mowing. Du Sum Landscape Services will mow 1 time per week, except during heavy growth periods when more frequent mowings may be necessary. We begin each day with freshly sharpened blades on all of our mowing equipment, for a manicured lawn that will make you proud!
Bed Maintenance:
Let Du Sum Landscape Services take the headache out of weeding and maintaining your mulch beds! We use an aggressive approach to combating weeds in your beds through pre and post emergent herbicides. We also use the oldest technique in the world - we pick them by hand! Du Sum Landscape Services will keep your beds free of debris like sticks, leaves, and trash. Bed Maintenance can be a monthly, bi-monthly, or a weekly service. No matter which you choose, Du Sum Landscape Services guarantees your satisfaction, or we will return and repeat the bed maintenance service at no charge to you.
Tree & Shrub Care:
Keep your trees and shrubs healthy with Du Sum Landscape Service. Our knowledgeable staff can keep all your plants in top condition. All of our trimming is done with professionally sharpened hand tools. Du Sum does not use gas powered shearers to prune your plants. We know that properly sharpened hand shearers cut cleaner without ripping or tearing the foliage which can damage the plants. We also prune, shape and deadwood all ornamental trees less than 20 feet tall, with manual pole pruners. Du Sum Landscape Services begins trimming after the new growth hardens on trees and shrubs. This normally takes place in mid June. Because we find trees and shrubs that are in bloom or have yet to bloom at our initial trimming, we make arrangements to provide multiple trimmings to maximize the bloom potential of all trees and shrubs.
Fertilization of trees and shrubs is another key component to maintaining healthy plants. Du Sum Landscape Services professionals can fertilize your trees & shrubs using several different methods. A dry granular fertilizer that is time released can be used at the drip line of your trees & shrubs. This method provides food for the feeder roots that grow close to the surface of the ground. Also available is a more aggressive method, called deep root fertilization. This method uses a liquid fertilizer that is disbursed deeper in the ground so the food is more readily available to all of the plant roots. Mulch Installation:
Nothing spruces up your landscape like the beauty of fresh mulch. At Du Sum Landscape Services, we use only the highest quality mulches that are beneficial to the plant material and maintain their color longer. We do not use mulch that primarily consist of wood products, but rather mulch that primarily consists of bark. Why does it matter whether wood or bark is used? It is simple - in order for wood to break down, it draws nitrogen from the earth, which can deprive your plant material of the precious nitrogen it needs for its health. Bark breaks down much easier and maintains its color as it bio degrades. In short, bark is much better for the plant material.
Du Sum Landscape Services includes bed edging and a pre-emergent application in all of our mulch installations. Bed edging is important to hold mulch in the beds, and redefines the bed shape. The pre-emergent herbicide application, along with our dedication to maintaining a 3 inch depth of mulch, act as deterrents to combating weeds.
